South Bohemian inspiration
South Bohemia played an important role in the work of Miloslav Troup — not only as a landscape, but also as a cultural and personal background. Troup had a deep connection to the region, as his parents came from the area beneath Mount Kleť, and he often visited Prachatice, where his brother Zdeněk Troup, a local pharmacist, lived.
The painter drew inspiration not only from the picturesque landscape and the historical architecture of the town, but also from its inhabitants and its atmosphere. Prachatice became a frequent motif in his paintings, which depict the South Bohemian countryside with sensitivity and a distinctive artistic language.
