The Mediterranean
The influence of Southern Europe is reflected in Troup’s colour palette, which became richer, more saturated, and sunlit, as well as in his choice of themes — he often depicted landscapes, urban scenes, and figures with a lightness and elegance characteristic of the Mediterranean environment.
Troup’s works from this period radiate calm, light, and harmony, contrasting with his later expressive and symbolic compositions. The Mediterranean provided him not only with visual inspiration but also with cultural and spiritual impulses that enriched his artistic language.
